2021/8/17、糖尿病の下肢切断の頻度について調べた日本の研究「Incidence of lower limb amputation in people with and without diabetes: a nationwide 5-year cohort study in Japan」の結果が発表されました。過去5年間において、大下肢切断30187例、小下肢切断29299例、日本において発生しました。性別、年齢調整後、糖尿病の下肢切断の発生率は、糖尿病なしと比較して、大下肢切断9.5倍（people with diabetes, 21.8 vs people without diabetes, 2.3, per 100 000 person-years）、小下肢切断14.9倍（people with diabetes, 28.4 vs people without diabetes, 1.9, per 100 000 person-years）でした。
